Small Post-Jam Update


I normally prefer to keep my jam games as-is after the jam, and update them on a new itch page, but I felt that the game could be improved greatly with some small balance tweaks, and really wanted to fix an issue with the font aliasing. I would also like to release a much bigger update in its own page soon, but for now I think this is a much improved experience while still being 99.9% the same as the jam submission.

Updates:

  • Disabled font anti-aliasing for proper pixel fonts (this is the sort of thing you miss when you're sleep-deprived at the end of a jam)
  • Reduced map sizes
  • Increased health decay rate
  • Increased food spawns
  • After selecting an upgrade, the snake enters the "paused" state, same as if they'd hit a wall. This should help prevent wall strikes immediately after choosing an upgrade.
